Your rights under the GDPR
Under the GDPR, you have the rights listed below, which you may exercise at any time by contacting the controller named in section 1 of this Privacy Policy:
- Right of access: You have the right to request information from us as to whether, and which, data concerning you we process.
- Right to rectification: You have the right to request the rectification of inaccurate data or the completion of incomplete data.
- Right to erasure: You have the right to request the erasure of your data.
- Right to restriction of processing: In certain cases, you have the right to request that we process your data only on a restricted basis.
- Right to data portability: You have the right to request that we provide your data to you or to another controller in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format.
- Right to lodge a complaint: You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The competent supervisory authority is that of your habitual residence, place of work or our registered office.
Right of withdrawal
You have the right to withdraw any consent you have given for data processing at any time.
Right to object
You have the right to object at any time to the processing of your data where such processing is based on our legitimate interests pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. If you exercise your right to object, we ask you to state the reasons for doing so. We will then no longer process your personal data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests and rights.
Irrespective of the above, you have the right at any time to object to the processing of your personal data for advertising and data analysis purposes.
Please send any objection to the controller’s contact address stated above.
When do we erase your data?
We erase your data when we no longer need it or when you instruct us to do so. This means that, unless otherwise stated in the individual privacy notices in this Privacy Policy, we erase your data
- when the purpose of the data processing no longer applies and the legal basis stated in the individual privacy notices therefore no longer exists, for example
- after the end of the contractual or membership relationship between us (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), or
- after our legitimate interest in the further processing or storage of your data has ceased to exist (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR),
- if you exercise your right of withdrawal and no other statutory legal basis for the processing within the meaning of Article 6(1)(b)–(f) GDPR applies,
- if you exercise your right to object and there are no compelling legitimate grounds preventing erasure.
However, if we are required to retain certain parts of your data for other purposes, for example because this is necessary due to tax retention periods (generally six years for business correspondence and ten years for accounting records), for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims arising from contractual relationships (up to four years), or because the data is needed to protect the rights of another natural or legal person, we will erase the relevant part of your data only after these periods have expired. Until then, we restrict the processing of this data to these purposes only (fulfilment of retention obligations).
Cookies
Our website uses cookies. Cookies are small text files consisting of a sequence of numbers and letters that are placed and stored on the device you use. Cookies primarily serve to exchange information between the device you use and our website. This includes, among other things, language settings on a website, login status or the point at which a video was watched.
Two types of cookies are used when you visit our websites:
- Temporary cookies (session cookies): These store a session ID which enables various requests from your browser to be assigned to the same session. Session cookies are deleted when you log out or close your browser.
- Persistent cookies: Persistent cookies remain stored even after the browser is closed. This enables our website to recognise your computer when you return to our website. These cookies may, for example, store information about language settings or login details. In addition, these cookies may document and store your browsing behaviour. This data may be used for statistical, marketing and personalisation purposes.
In addition to the above classification, cookies may also be distinguished according to their purpose:
- Necessary cookies: These are cookies that are strictly necessary for the operation of our website, for example to store logins or shopping baskets for the duration of your session, or cookies that are set for security reasons.
- Statistics, marketing and personalisation cookies: These are cookies used for analysis purposes or audience measurement. Such “tracking” cookies may in particular store information about search terms entered or the frequency of page views. In addition, the browsing behaviour of an individual user (for example viewing certain content or using certain functions) may be stored in a user profile. Such profiles are used to display content to users that is likely to correspond to their potential interests. Where we use services through which cookies for statistics, marketing and personalisation purposes are stored on your device, we will inform you about this separately in the following sections of this Privacy Policy or when obtaining your consent.
Data concerned:
- Usage data (e.g. access times, websites clicked on)
- Communication data (e.g. information about the device used, IP address).
Data subjects: users of our online services
Purpose of processing: delivery of our websites, ensuring the operation of our websites, improving our online offering, communication and marketing
Legal basis:
Legitimate interests, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR
If we do not obtain your consent to the setting of cookies, we base the processing of your data on our legitimate interest in improving the quality and user-friendliness of our website, in particular its content and functions. You may object to the use of cookies set by us on the basis of our legitimate interests via your browser’s security settings. There you can determine whether, for example, you do not accept cookies at all, accept cookies only on request, or specify that cookies are deleted each time you close your browser. If cookies are disabled for our website, it may no longer be possible to use all functions of the website in full.
Consent, Article 6(1)(a) GDPR
If, before you visit our website, we ask for your permission to place certain cookies on your device and you give your consent, that consent constitutes the legal basis. When obtaining consent, we inform you which cookies we set in detail. If you do not give this consent, only technically necessary cookies that are required for the proper operation of our websites and their display in your browser will be set. If you have consented to the setting of cookies, you may withdraw the consent you have given to us at any time.

Web analytics and statistics
We use web analytics services to record and statistically evaluate visitor traffic on our website. Such services collect, among other things, data about the website from which you accessed our website (so-called referrers), which pages of our website you accessed, how long you visited our pages and what interactions you carried out there. In addition, data is collected about the browser, computer system and type of device you use. Such a service may also collect demographic information, such as age or gender, as pseudonymous values. If you have consented to the collection of your location data, this may also be processed, depending on the provider.
To collect and store this data, the web analytics service we use generally places a cookie on the device you use, through which the IP address assigned to you is also collected. However, this is shortened using a process known as IP masking, so that the IP address can no longer be associated with your visit to our website. No clear data such as names or email addresses is stored either. Neither we nor the service we use knows the identity of visitors to our websites.
When collecting the data, however, the service provider may use cookies to create pseudonymous usage profiles containing information from the use of various devices.
We would like to inform you that, depending on the country in which the service provider named below is based, the data collected via the service may be transferred to and processed outside the European Union. In such cases, there is a risk that the level of data protection required by the GDPR may not be observed and that the enforcement of your rights may be impossible or more difficult.
Data concerned:
- Usage data (e.g. access times, websites clicked on)
- Communication data (e.g. information about the device used, IP address).
Data subjects: users of our online services
Purpose of processing: audience measurement, campaign performance monitoring, remarketing, and interest- and behaviour-based marketing
Legal basis: Where we have asked for your consent before using the relevant service, this consent constitutes the legal basis, Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. Otherwise, we use the relevant service on the basis of our legitimate interest in analysing visitor traffic on our websites so that we can continuously improve the functions, offers and user experience, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.
We use the following web analytics services:
Matomo Analytics (mit Cookies)
Service provider: InnoCraft Ltd., 150 Willis St, 6011 Wellington, New Zealand
Website: https://matomo.org/
Privacy Policy: https://matomo.org/privacy/
When Matomo is used, the data collected by the analytics tool is not transmitted to the service provider, but remains on our server.
Third-party plugins used by us
We have embedded plugins on our website in the form of “social media buttons” from the providers we use. You can identify which plugin belongs to which provider by the respective logo used to label the plugin. We have deactivated social media plugins on our website by default, so that data is not automatically transmitted to the plugin provider when our pages are accessed. For this purpose, we use the so-called two-click solution. If you wish to use a plugin, you can activate it by clicking the corresponding button. Only then is the plugin loaded and the collection of information and its transmission to the provider triggered. In this case, data may be sent to the relevant provider via the active social media plugin even if you do not have an account with the relevant social network, or if you have an account there but are not logged in.
We point out that, depending on the country in which the service provider named below is based, the data described in more detail below may be transferred to and processed on servers outside the European Union. In such cases, there is a risk that the level of data protection required by the GDPR may not be observed and that the enforcement of your rights may be impossible or more difficult.
